Until 27 March 2025, at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia in Katowice (ul. Uniwersytecka 4), you can see an exhibition of works by Aleksandra Gaweł-Krajska entitled ‘Colours and Flavours of the South’. The author’s works have been presented as part of numerous national and international exhibitions (including in France, Spain and Brazil).
Aleksandra Gaweł-Krajska is a University of Silesia graduate of mathematics and physics. After shaping her career path, she decided to pursue postgraduate studies in painting and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Katowice. She works as a high school mathematics and physics teacher.
In her artistic work she deals mainly with acrylic and oil painting, gilding, metalwork and sculpture. Most often, she paints in the naïve style, which is very close to her heart, but she also creates cubist paintings, abstractions and graphics. Her greatest source of inspiration is Katowice, her home city, but also her travels, both those she has already experienced and those that she is still dreaming of.
The paintings exhibited at the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Silesia depict the sunny and colourful countries of southern Europe, and are accompanied by poems (in Italian, Spanish, Croatian and French) selected by USil philologists: Dominika Dykta, PhD, Katarzyna Gutkowska-Ociepa, PhD, Katarzyna Majdzik-Papić, PhD and Agnieszka Loska, PhD.
The originator and curator of the exhibition is Aniela Kucharska, PhD.
