Ladies and Gentlemen,
all community members
of the University of Silesia,
please accept my warmest Easter wishes. No other feast connects the human and natural world so strongly. The spring awakening of nature revives the human mind and body, gives them energy, causes excitement and spontaneous joy. At the same time, the Christian tradition reminds us with the tale of death and resurrection about what is most deeply human and cannot be tamed by any spring: that a single existence is fragile, exposed to pain and suffering, and then one day irretrievable.
I wish you the joyous energy of spring along with a vigilant and caring reflection on life. Let the body and mind awakened from the winter lead you bravely and wisely through the following year, to the benefit of each of us separately and all those we live with.
