Academic career path — academic degrees and titles, including promotion theses and year of award:

• 2001: PhD in the humanities, discipline: literary studies. Doctoral dissertation: La science-fiction comme merveilleux contemporain. Supervisor: Professor Magdalena Wandzioch.
• 2013: Habilitation degree in the humanities, discipline: literary studies. Habilitation thesis: La prose néofantastique d’expression française aux XXe et XXIe siècles.
• 2025: awarded the state title of Professor of the Humanities in the discipline of literary studies, conferred by the President of the Republic of Poland. Monograph submitted for the professorial title: K. Gadomska, Le Nouveau fantastique de Jean-Pierre Andrevon, Brill/Rodopi, Leiden–Boston, 2021.

Scientific discipline and research conducted — main fields of interest:

A scholar in Romance studies and literary studies, specialising in the broadly understood fantastic and horror in literature and film. Her research interests also include the supernatural in the literatures of the Indian Ocean region, with particular emphasis on the literature of Mauritius and La Réunion.

She is the author of three single-author monographs and approximately seventy published academic works, including articles and chapters in collective volumes, devoted primarily to the fantastic, horror, and non-mimetic fiction.

She has supervised four doctoral dissertations on non-mimetic fiction and is currently supervising the doctoral dissertation of Piotr Kaczka, MA, devoted to nineteenth-century fantasts minorum gentium.
In the academic years 2022/2023–2023/2024, she served as an external examiner at the University of Mauritius, in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, for the BA (Hons) French Studies and BA (Hons) French with Translation Studies programmes.

She regularly acts as a reviewer of doctoral dissertations, academic articles, monographs, and grant proposals. She has reviewed articles for journals including, among others, Orbis Litterarum, Quaestiones Romanicae, Images. The International Journal of European Film, Performing Arts and Audiovisual Communication, Academic Journal of Modern Philology, Humanities and Cultural Studies, New Voices in Translation Studies, and Brumal. Revista de investigación sobre lo fantástico, as well as many others. She has also prepared reviews of monographs for academic publishing houses, including Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego, Wydawnictwo Naukowe Uniwersytetu Szczecińskiego, Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Opolskiego, and others.

She has also served as a grant reviewer, including for the Slovak Academy of Sciences under the SASPRO 2 Horizon 2020 programme and the IMPULZ programme.

Leadership of and participation in research projects:

• Research team member in the collective grant no. NN 103024837, led by Professor Magdalena Wandzioch. Project title: Métamorphoses de l’insolite dans la littérature d’expression française du XVIIIe au XXIe siècle. The grant was funded by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and was carried out in the years 2009–2012.
• Principal investigator of the OPUS 15 project, National Science Centre, Poland, no. 2018/29/B/HS2/00748, entitled “The New Fantastic of Jean-Pierre Andrevon” / “Nowa Fantastyka Jean-Pierre’a Andrevona” (duration: January 2019 – January 2023).
• Principal investigator of the research project entitled “Categories of the Western Taxonomy of Imaginary Literatures (fantastique, merveilleux, étrange) and an Indo-Oceanic Contextualisation of Ananda Devi’s Texts” / “Kategorie zachodniej taksonomii literatur wyobrażonych (fantastique, merveilleux, étrange) a indiooceaniczna kontekstualizacja tekstów Anandy Devi” (March–December 2023). The project was funded under the Research Excellence Initiative, Freedom of Research, 3rd edition, University of Silesia.
