Increasing the doctoral scholarship for doctoral students in doctoral schools under the Research Excellence Initiative
The University of Silesia in Katowice, as one of twenty Polish universities, has been qualified for the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” program, thanks to which in the years 2020-2025 it receives a subsidy increased by 2%, which it allocates to various activities supporting scientific research under the “Research Excellence Initiative” project. One of these activities is an annual competition to increase the doctoral scholarship for the top 10 percent of doctoral students in doctoral schools.
The rules of the competition are each time determined by the Rector in an ordinance. The basis for awarding a scholarship is those scientific and artistic achievements that improve the scientific quality of the university and strengthen scientific and artistic disciplines in their evaluation, i.e. primarily publications in scientific journals and grants obtained by doctoral students.
