The beginning of the academic year is a good time to emphasise how important it is to take care of your own safety as well as the safety of the entire academic community. With that in mind, we would like to remind you about our Safety website. It contains key contact details, as well as information and procedures for emergency situations such as accidents, fires, chemical and biological threats, and cyberattacks. All information is regularly updated to respond to changing challenges and needs.

The university is also active in ensuring access to information necessary for all members of the academic community. In each room there is a sign with key telephone numbers (including contact details for security points, basic emergency numbers, and information on technical support).

It is also important for us to ensure safety in terms of potential dangerous situations. That is why the buildings of the University of Silesia are equipped with AED defibrillators. The university is gradually equipping individual locations with this life-saving equipment. Moreover, the university offers self-defence training for employees and students.

We would like to remind you that safety support is provided by the Security and Defence Department. We encourage members of the academic community to explore the website and use the resources available. Let us remember that safety is our shared responsibility – stay vigilant and support each other!
