The University of Silesia was recognised during this year’s awards ceremony of the PR and Promotion of Polish Universities ‘PRom’ Association. An award went to the University’s semi-annual popular science journal No Limits, which has been published for several years now.

The University of Silesia received a special award for No Limits and was also a finalist in the university media category.

Argumentation of the award jury

“The digital revolution we are witnessing today is the changes caused by the development of computerisation and modern technologies. Rapid technological progress and widespread digitalisation have a huge impact on all areas of our lives, and some of the most spectacular changes can be observed on the press publishing market. Press titles are disappearing, and the circulation of printed dailies and weeklies is negligible compared to the circulation of a few years ago. The digital society we have become looks for information on the Internet. Or does it? It turns out that in the era of fake news, readers, looking for real information, return to titles they trust, and experts say that as long as there are readers willing to pick up a newspaper, printed press will not disappear. This year, the jury of our competition consists of people who enjoy turning pages of paper […] for the originality of the idea, for the courage to create something against the grain and to enter print – at a time when newspapers are moving to the online format and are looking for readers there. For the extraordinary quality of the graphic message and the high quality of the articles. In one word, for being old-school!”

No Limits is the first popular science journal at the University of Silesia, which provides information about research conducted at the university in an interesting way.
