Due to the exceptional involvement of employees of the University of Silesia in activities within the City-Region-Academia stream as part of the European City of Science Katowice, we would like to inform you about an additional call for applications lasting until 5 May 2024.
In this stream you can propose:
- initiatives resulting from the statutory activities of the University of Silesia, such as: scientific and popular science events, conferences, congresses, music and cultural events, festivals, social, recreational and other initiatives, including events and initiatives that are undertaken periodically;
- special projects: individual or team ideas of USil employees that are consistent with the programme assumptions of ECSK 2024, in particular those contributing to the transformation of the region and strengthening the recognition of the University of Silesia as a scientific centre on the international arena. New initiatives proposed in connection with the awarding of the ECSK 2024 title are treated as special projects. It is preferred that they are innovative and interdisciplinary in nature, have a large scope and are implemented in cooperation (e.g. inter-faculty, with the socio-economic environment or the Academic Consortium Katowice City of Science).
You can submit your initiatives until 5 May via the application form or, in the case of special projects, send the concept together with a preliminary cost estimate to emn@us.edu.pl with the note ‘EMNK2024 Special Project’.

City-Region-Academia stream
The aim of the initiative is to combine the efforts of all those interested in building the City of Science. The programme consists of initiatives such as: popular science events, scientific conferences, congresses, music and cultural events, festivals, as well as social initiatives and recreational events, including events and initiatives that have been undertaken for many years.
