The Children’s University of Silesia is organising an open lecture “With the eye of Galileo” delivered by Andrzej Boczarowski, PhD, from the Faculty of Natural Sciences. It will be the first meeting of the “With the eye of a scientist” series dedicated to the evolution of science. The event will be held via the Zoom platform (Meeting ID: 922 2173 7542, Passcode: 2c2nQ5) and is dedicated to all children and parents.

Description of the lecture

Every new scientific work is based not only on one’s own achievements but also on the achievements of people who have dealt with this problem before. A contemporary scientist constantly follows the newest publications. However, when we reach the basics of science, we base on the works of the fathers of science.

Undoubtedly, one of the greatest revolutionaries in the history of astronomy, physics, and natural sciences is Galileo. Despite the lapse of time, his opus Sidereus Nuncius is still being read. This first scientific opus based on telescope observations allows considering Galileo as a forerunner of modern physics.
