This year, as part of the Professor Andrzej Lasota lecture series two lectures will be delivered: one – the current, and the second – the one which was canceled last year due to the sanitary regime introduced at that time.
The meeting will be held on 14 January 2022 at 2 p.m. in the auditorium of Kazimierz Lepszy in the building of the rectorate of the University of Silesia at 12 Bankowa Street in Katowice. The lectures will also be broadcast on the university’s YouTube channel.
The event was established to celebrate the person and work of prof. Andrzej Lasota – a long-time employee of the Institute of Mathematics of the University of Silesia, honorary doctor of the University of Silesia and a member of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences. As part of cyclical meetings, scholars with unquestionable achievements in theory or application of exact sciences are invited to deliver a lecture.
This year’s event, as in previous editions, will be attended by distinguished guests. Prof. Pierangelo Marcati from the University of L’Aquila (Italia) will deliver a lecture “Mathematical challenges in the theory of quantum fluids”, whereas Prof. Adam Jakubowski from the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń will deliver a lecture on Submetric probability theory.
