The ‘Gold Medal – Best of Show’ award in this year’s edition of the international music competition Global Music Awards (GMA) was awarded for the album ‘Roman Ryterband – The Journey’. The material was developed jointly by Anna Kijanowska, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor and Małgorzata Kaniowska, PhD, DLitt, Associate Professor from the Faculty of Arts and Educational Science of the University of Silesia.

The album consists of selected works by Roman Ryterband, which were composed during and after World War Two. The jury of the competition appreciated the emotional performances for “evoking the feeling of a misty journey to a distant and better future that does not leave the listener”.

Prof. Anna Kijanowska was the originator of the project and its initiator. You can hear her play the piano on the album. Prof. Małgorzata Kaniowska conducted the Silesian Chamber Orchestra, which also appears on the recordings of ‘Roman Ryterband – The Journey’. Prof. Kaniowska is also the author of the critical commentary on the CD.

The Global Music Awards recognises talented artists from around the world. The award is the gold seal of the music industry, a sign of credibility for talented musicians.

The full list of winners of this year’s edition of the competition can be found on the Global Music Awards website.
