The University of Silesia in Katowice is organising the campaign Aware University of Silesia. Openness. The aim of the activities implemented under the campaign is to increase the knowledge of students and university staff about the openness of universities, and to open a discussion on how to make studying more friendly to various groups, including people with special needs. We invited experts and practitioners to participate in the event, who will share their knowledge and experience during webinars and lectures.

Events schedule:

  • Prof. Temple Grandin Different kinds of minds in development – 5 October 2021, 6 p.m. (webinar), 15 October at the 5th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE on-line retransmission with subtitles in Polish and English;
  • Izabela Sopalska-Rybak I am… – 10 October 2021, 1:05 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. (Speech at the 5th. Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, stage: Medicine and Health);
  • Krzysztof Wostal Living in awe – without sight and hearing. Deafblind Krzysztof Wostal tells how he lives, studies, works and travels – 10 October 2021, 5:10 p.m. – 5:50 p.m. (Speech at the 5th. Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, stage: Medicine and Health);
  • Anna Pyszkowska Women on the autism spectrum – facts and myths – 10 October 2021, 3:25 p.m. – 4:05 p.m. (Speech at the 5th. Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE, stage: Medicine and Health).

The campaign is carried out as part the project entitled “DUO – University of Silesia – available, universal and open”, which was co-funded under Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development for 2014-2020, Action 3.5 Complex programmes for universities.
