Another monograph award for Weronika Dragan, PhD

“Shaping of the urban and spatial layouts of the former border railway centres of Poland” is a monograph by Weronika Dragan, PhD from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia, which was once again awarded, this time with the second prize of the 30th Polish Sightseeing and Tourism Book Review in the “Monographs and other sightseeing studies” category.

In the publication, the author presents an interdisciplinary approach to the spatial systems of former border railway towns in reference to industry, migration and cultural diversity. The work also presents a model-typological approach explaining the processes taking place in the space of the studied towns. 

The award will be presented on 28 October 2022 at 12.00 p.m. during the final gala at the University Cultural Centre of the University of Bialystok.

The prize is awarded for the scientific and editorial value of the work. A team from the University of Silesia Press was involved in the work on the book. The team was composed of: Anna Piwowarczyk (editor), Małgorzata Pleśniar (layout editor), Tomasz Tomczuk (cover designer), Marzena Marczyk (reviser), Edward Wilk (line breaking), and Przemysław Pieniążek (managing editor).
