Ladies and Gentlemen,

members of the academic community of the University of Silesia,

I would like to inform you that based on the Regulation of the Prime Minister of 14 April 2022, the second alert state BRAVO was introduced in the territory of the Republic of Poland, which means an increased risk of terrorist incidents. Second alert degree will be in effect until 30 April 2022, 23:59.

I urge the entire academic community to be on heightened alert on University premises about anyone behaving in a suspicious manner and to inform security staff immediately if they notice any alarming signs.

In accordance with the current law, the following measures, among others, have been introduced at the University of Silesia for the duration of B alert degree:

  • increased security of facilities,
  • restricted access to the University for outsiders,
  • inspection of all postal items,
  • restricted access to unused buildings and premises,
  • testing of alarm installations, capacities of escape routes and functionality of video recording systems.

In addition, I ask you to familiarise yourself with the materials of the Terrorism Prevention Centre of Excellence of the Internal Security Agency, where you will find basic and necessary information on how to act in the event of a terrorist threat and what situations and behaviour should trigger our alertness. The material is available at: https://tpcoe.gov.pl/cpt/materialy. I highly recommend that you read the Terrorism Prevention Brochure.

In the event of imminent danger, the 4U principle should be followed:

  • UWAŻAJ (BE CAREFUL)
  • UCIEKAJ (RUN AWAY)
  • UKRYJ SIĘ (HIDE)
  • UDAREMNIJ ATAK (FOIL THE ATTACK)

For more details see: https://www.4u.tpcoe.gov.pl/.
