We encourage all those interested to take part in the provincial art competition for the graphic design of the obverse and reverse of a 1 zloty coin or a 100 zloty banknote depicting the image of Władysław Grabski or Mały Dżek (Little Jack). The initiative is organised on the occasion of the Year of Economic Education by the consortium of the European City of Science Katowice 2024 in cooperation with the Silesian Education Authority, the Silesian Banner of the Polish Scouting and Guiding Association and Halina Bieda, Senator of the Republic of Poland.

The competition aims to promote the idea of economic education and deepen knowledge about the history of the Polish currency, Władysław Grabski’s reforms and the character of Mały Dżek (Little Jack) from Janusz Korczak’s book Bankructwo Małego Dżeka (The Bankruptcy of Little Jack). In addition, it is intended to promote financial knowledge, build proper economic attitudes among children and youth, and develop their artistic skills and talents.

The competition participants are divided into three age categories, so both the youngest and older students can participate. The works can be made using various artistic techniques or in the form of computer graphics, maintaining the specified dimensions for the coin and banknote.

The deadline for submitting works and the completed participation cards is 15 April 2024. The jury, composed of representatives of the competition organisers, will evaluate the works in terms of creativity and artistic expression.

There are attractive prizes for the first three places and distinctions in each age category. The jury’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.

Detailed information about the competition can be found in the rules and regulations.
