We are launching a series of trainings as part of the project “Level up↑ – increasing efficient communication of the University of Silesia and shaping the attitudes of openness in the academic environment.”
The project is co-financed from the European Social Fund under the Operational Programme Knowledge Education Development Increasing competencies of the academic staff and the institution’s potential to receive people from abroad – Welcome to Poland implemented within the action stipulated in the application for funding No. POWR.03.03.00-00-PN14/18.
Online training: “Inclusive communication at the University – how not to exclude in the process of spoken and written communication”
Recruitment: until 21 Match 2022
Training dates:
- 17 March (group 1), at 9 a.m. – 3.30 p.m.,
- 24 March (group 2), at 9 a.m. – 3.30 p.m.,
- 24 March (group 3), at 11.30 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Both managerial and administrative employees and academics can take part in the training provided they submit the required documents to the Marketing Department (Rectorate, room no. 1.2) personally, by post, or by the internal e-mail system.
In cases when applicants receive an equal number of points, participants will be selected based on the order in which they submitted the documents. Employees from the Cieszyn, Chorzów, and Sosnowiec campuses may send their applications by e-mail to piotr.skrzynecki@us.edu.pl (without scans of the documents) and send the required documents by the end of recruitment. If the participant fails to submit a complete set of documents in printed form by the end of recruitment, the e-mail application will be cancelled.

Subject of the training:
The main goal of the training is to provide information on using inclusive language in broadly understood university communication. The content of the training will include both theoretical issues of discrimination, equal treatment, diversity, and the practical dimension of inclusive language and a proposition to use inclusive forms in speech and writing.
At the minimum, the following teaching methods will be used during the training: presentation with practical examples, discussion, practising new skills through exercises.
