Internet voting to select the winners of the POP Science award of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE 2021 is open. The voting will continue until 7 October 2021, 11.59 p.m. The distinction is awarded to people and projects popularising science in three national categories (videoblog, website/blog, radio broadcast/podcast) and in two regional categories under the common name – think globally, act locally: university employee and resident of the Silesian Province.

The nominees for the award are selected through a vote among the members of the jury. The candidates are chosen from among all submitted applications. After the list of nominees has been announced, anyone can vote for their candidate online. A victory is determined by the jury and all the voters, maintaining the proportion of 50% of Internet users’ votes and 50% of the jury’s votes.

Among the nominees there are people associated with the University of Silesia:

  • Magdalena Christ, PhD, from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Silesia (category: think globally, act locally – university employee),
  • Adam Adamczyk – author of the Kwantowo website, a graduate of the University of Silesia (category: website or blog),
  • Andrzej Włusek – a graduate of the University of Silesia (category: think globally, act locally – resident of the Silesian Province),
  • Jarosław Gwizdak – a graduate of the University of Silesia (category: think globally, act locally – resident of the Silesian Province),

The voting form is available on the website: formularze.us.edu.pl.

The results will be announced on Sunday, 10 October, 2021 during the fifth edition of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE.
