Our researchers among the winners of the MINIATURA 5 competition

The National Science Centre announced the next ranking list of scientific activities qualified for funding under the MINIATURA 5 competition. Among the winners are scientists from the University of Silesia.

The aim of the MINIATURA competition is to support scientific activities leading to the development of a future research project to be submitted in competitions of the National Science Centre or other national or international competitions. In the fifth edition, participants could have obtained funding ranging from PLN 5,000 to PLN 50,000 for preliminary or pilot research, queries, scientific internships, research or consultancy trips lasting up to 12 months.

Faculty of Science and Technology:

  • Marek Matussek, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: “Synteza oraz właściwości fotofizyczne nowych pochodnych benzo[ghi]perylenotrimidu w kontekście elektroaktywnych materiałów dla organicznej elektroniki” (Synthesis and photophysical properties of new benzo[ghi]perylenetrimide derivatives in the context of electroactive materials for organic electronics), funding amount: PLN 49,500;
  • Paweł Świt, PhD Eng. – preliminary/pilot research: “Opracowanie innowacyjnej strategii kalibracji analitycznej umożliwiającej badanie efektów interferencyjnych i poprawę jakości wyników analitycznych” (Development of innovative analytical calibration strategy for examination of interference effects and improving the quality of analytical results), funding amount: PLN 49,940.

Faculty of Social Sciences:

  • Magdalena Hyla, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: “Kobieta cykliczna – badanie pilotażowe. Doświadczenie swojej pierwszej miesiączki oraz pierwszej miesiączki u swoich córek w grupie polskich kobiet” (The cyclical woman – a pilot study. The experience of one’s first menstruation and the first menstruation of one’s daughters in a group of Polish women), funding amount: PLN 15,400;
  • Maria Chełkowska-Zacharewicz, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: “Konceptualizacja funkcjonowania psychologicznego muzyków na podstawie modelu elastyczności psychologicznej” (Conceptualisation of psychological functioning of musicians based on the model of psychological flexibility), funding amount: PLN 38,214.

Faculty of Natural Sciences:

  • Anna Milewska-Hednel, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: “Interakcja nanocząstek srebra z komórkami kalusa morfogennego Fagopyrum tataricum (L.)” (Interaction of silver nanoparticles with cells of the morphogenic callus Fagopyrum tataricum (L.)), funding amout: PLN 49,412;
  • Agnieszka Nowak, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: “Wpływ wybranych jodowych środków kontrastowych na aktywność i różnorodność mikroorganizmów osadu czynnego” (Effect of selected iodine contrast agents on activity and diversity of activated sludge microorganisms), funding amount: PLN 49,995;
  • Marta Kondracka, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: “Ocena efektów zabiegów rekultywacyjnych terenów pogórniczych metodami geofizycznymi” (Assessment of the effects of post-mining land reclamation treatments by geophysical methods), funding amount: PLN 41,599;
  • Kornelia Gudyś, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: „Zmienność genetyczna i struktura populacji łubinu trwałego (Lupinus polyphyllus Lindl.) w pierwotnym i inwazyjnym zasięgu występowania” (Genetic variability and population structure of lupin (Lupinus polyphyllus Lindl.) in its original and invasive range), funding amount: PLN 49,280.

Faculty of Humanities:

  • Magdalena Malinowska, PhD – research internship: “Afrykańskie projekcje przyszłości. Afrofuturyzm w literackich i filmowych narracjach kobiecych” (African projections of the future. Afrofuturism in literary and film narratives of women), funding amount: PLN 49,500;

Faculty of Law and Administration:

  • Grzegorz Nancka, PhD – preliminary/pilot research: “Tworzenie prawa w Polsce międzywojennej. Analiza spuścizn pozostawionych przez członków Komisji Kodyfikacyjnej II RP” (Lawmaking in Interwar Poland. Analysis of legacies of members of the Second Republic of Poland Codification Commission), funding amount: PLN 11,220;
