Prof. Urszula Myga-Piątek becomes a member of the Council of Scientific Societies

Urszula Myga-Piątek, PhD, DSc, Associate Professor from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia, Chair of the Polish Geographical Society, was appointed by the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences as a member of the Council of Scientific Societies at the presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences for the 2023-2026 term.

The role of the Council of Scientific Societies is to represent the social scientific movement, as well as to undertake activities aimed at the development of science and its dissemination as part of the statutory activities of scientific societies. The Council’s task is also to prepare opinions for the authorities of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the state authorities on the social scientific movement and its participation in the general scientific and educational policy of the state. In the upcoming term, the main goal of the Council is to develop legal solutions regarding the status of scientific societies and associations and the system of social financing of the scientific movement in Poland.
