In the latest edition of the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject, the University of Silesia in Katowice made it to the largest number of categories so far – 6 out of 9 to which it applied.
In terms of the number of categories, we were ranked 1st among universities in the Silesian Voivodeship. We also took 3rd place among all Polish universities. Only two universities were ahead of us – the Jagiellonian University and the University of Warsaw.
For the first time since it participates in the ranking, USil has been classified in the Engineering category. The other categories in which our university was noted are: Arts and Humanities, Education, Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Social Sciences.
THE WUR by Subject is the largest and most diverse list of higher education entities. It includes nearly 1,800 universities in 104 countries and regions. Through 13 carefully calibrated performance indicators, the ranking assesses the institutions’ performance in four areas: teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international perspectives.
This is another great result of USil in national and international rankings. In the last edition of UniRank 2022, our University was ranked 11th out of 128 assessed Polish universities. In the ranking of the Polish Patent Office for 2021, our University was ranked 1st among the classical universities, while in the Perspektywy University Ranking 2022 we took the high 8th place among universities. Recently, the USil evaluation results for 2017–2022 have also been published – one discipline received the highest A+ grade, and 8 – an A.
