University of Silesia in Katowice

Sport activity at the University of Silesia is based on two units:

• CWFiS US – Centre for Physical Education and Sport is an inter-departmental unit of US that carries out didactic activity in the scope of physical culture. It is responsible mainly for the conduct of obligatory classes in PE for students of US. It is also an organizer or co-organizer of various recreation and sport events at the University of Silesia.
• AZS US – University Sports Association of the University of Silesia is a sport club that functions by the University, within the all-Poland structures of AZS. It is responsible for the organization and conduct of sport sections, both recreational and professional. It is frequently the host (organizer) of various events under the Academic Championships of Poland.

Through close cooperation of both specified units, students of the University of Silesia, while realizing their obligatory classes of PE may choose from the rich list of sport disciplines realized both by CWFiS and the equivalent PE classes – through participation in AZS sections.

In the current semester (2020/2021) classes in PE are realized by CWFiS in the hybrid mode with the main focus on contact classes on sport objects and outside. Sport classes of the AZS sport sections will be realized in 100% in the contact mode.
