Practical workshops on working with QUAL methodologies: from first steps to finalizing report

Workshops on methodology for social sciences

From 17 to 20 April, prof. Vilma Žydžiūnaitė from Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas, director of the Institute of Education and an expert in qualitative research methods will be hosted at the University of Silesia in Katowice. During her stay, she will conduct a number of workshops open to all PhD students.

Schedule of meetings (Bankowa 14, room 410):

  • Monday, April 17th, 9:00-11:00, 11:30-13:30
    Creating the qualitative research project: for the idea to result. Preparing the research proposal – what kind of methodological parameters must be covered? What mistakes influences quality of the proposal?
  • Tuesday, April 18th, 8:45-10:45, 11:00-13:00
    Doing qualitative interviews: from the start to finish. Strengths and limitations.
    Doing focus groups: from idea to result. How to avid mistakes?
  • Wednesday, April 19th, 13:45-15:45
    Qualitative content analysis: two types. From the research problem to conclusions of report
  • Thursday, April 20th, 8:45-10:45
    Phenomenology of practice: parameters, dimensions, process, report

We invite all PhD students (and students interested in doctoral education) to participate in these classes. Workshops can be credited (for PhD students) as additional optional classes or as part of the Research Methodology module, provided that you actively participate in at least 2 meetings. We plan to launch classes in a hybrid form, but due to their workshop nature, we encourage you to participate directly in the class.

If you are interested, please complete the form by Monday, 8:00 a.m. The form does not limit entry, but only people who fill it out can have classes credited and will receive a link to the hybrid form of classes.
