Doctoral seminar and tutoring

Individual courses (seminars, tutoring) are organized as before. The teacher and the PhD student decide jointly about the form of classes and the criteria for obtaining credit. If something needs improvement in USOS – report it.

Preparation and implementation of the research project

The main goal of the course is to prepare a grant project – to plan it in such a way that it has a good chance of financing, and its implementation brings scientific benefits. Work takes place in groups and in the form of individual consultations. Classes are conducted in cooperation with superivisors who provide substantive support in the preparation of applications.

The finishing of the course is based on the preparation of the application and submission of the grant application. PhD students have time to submit a grant application by the end of the second year of education, so they can also obtain a credit in the second year, but they attend classes in the first year.

PhD students who implement their doctoral projects as part of a grant project (e.g. PRELUDIUM BIS, OPUS) and obtaining another grant instead of benefits could disturb the possibility of project implementation, may be exempted from the obligation to send a grant application. They should submit an application (by e-mail – szkola.doktorska@us.edu.pl) for exemption from this obligation. The application should be confirmed by the supervisor (signature on a scan of the letter or a separate confirmation e-mail). Note – the exemption from submitting the application does not mean exemption from classes where PhD students learn how to independently raise funds for research. The PhD student should establish the pass criteria with the teacher.

PhD students who have already obtained funds for research in the form of a grant (eg PRELUDIUM, Diamond Grant, Implementation Doctorate) may apply for a complete exemption from these classes.
