Results of competitions for doctoral students funded by the Research Excellence Initiative 2026
From March 31 to April 1, 2026, a committee composed in accordance with Rector’s Order No. 37/3036 worked on applications for all three competitions, considering them separately but in relation to each other to fund projects of similar value. The committee’s final proposal is to fund applications with the same cutoff point in all three competitions: 27/36 points (75%).
1. Competition: Specialized Abroad Courses for Doctoral Students.
One application was submitted, formally satisfactory. The application, assessed at 22 points, will not be funded.
2. Competition: Domestic Internships for Doctoral Students.
Six applications were submitted, all formally satisfactory. Five applications received the required number of points, for a total value (after reasonable reductions in some cost estimates): PLN 34,160.
3. Competition: Research Tasks for Doctoral Students.
A total of 129 applications were submitted, including 17 unfinished or duplicate applications (a duplicate application is the same application mistakenly submitted a second time).
Formal Evaluation
Thirty-one applications were rejected for formal reasons, including three due to a lack of supervisor confirmation and 29 due to a failure to declare any evaluation outcome (one application was rejected for both reasons). At the very beginning of the meeting, after analyzing the financial situation and the regulations, the Committee decided not to fund applications that did not include a declaration of evaluation outcome. This primarily concerned applicants who, instead of a publication, grant application, or other evaluated achievement, listed, for example, a paper delivered, an internship, a dissertation chapter, etc. in the “Estimated result of the planned project” field.
Substantial Evaluation
The committee evaluated a total of 81 applications for a total amount of PLN 409,032.53, including:
- 6 applications from IEDS doctoral students
- 23 applications from DS doctoral students in the humanities, theology, and arts
- 42 applications from DS doctoral students in the exact and natural sciences and engineering and technology
- 10 applications from DS doctoral students in the social sciences
Based on the evaluation and after rationally reducing some cost estimates, the committee decided to fund 35 applications for a total amount of PLN 149,663.95, including:
- 4 applications from IEDS doctoral students
- 12 applications from DS doctoral students in the humanities, theology, and arts
- 14 applications from DS doctoral students in the exact and natural sciences and engineering and technology Engineering and Technology
- 5 applications from DS doctoral students in the Social Sciences
TOTAL
In three competitions, the committee decided to fund 40 applications for a total amount of PLN 183,763.95.
The results are published in a form of a list of funded applications. The summary includes the PhD student’s details (name, discipline, doctoral school), the title of the funded project, and the awarded amount.
All applicants will receive their individual results via email provided during registration within two weeks of the announcement of the competition results.
The competition does not provide for an appeals process.
