The University of Silesia in Katowice, as a member of the Transform4Europe alliance,
invites doctoral students and Msc students
to the Spring School 2025, entitled
Science for a Sustainable Now and Future
📆 When: April 7–11, 2025
📍 Where: Katowice (University of Silesia in Katowice) and Chorzów (SPIN-Lab Centre for Microscopic Research), Poland
💰Participation is free of charge – the event is fully funded with the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange under the STER Program.

🤩 What awaits you?
- Cutting-edge lectures, Hands-on workshops, and Laboratory classes conducted by Polish and European Researchers during which you will:
- Investigate the world of microbiomes, lung health, allergies, and microbial discoveries
- Uncover the potential of artificial intelligence and machine learning
- Explore the frontiers of next-generation probiotics and commensal bacteria
- Dive into fungal ecosystems and bioinformatic analyses of fungal barcodes
- Experience microscopy with tools including microcomputed tomography, scanning electron, transmission electron, and confocal light microscopes.
- Interactive Discussions on the Students’ presentations and posters: present your ideas and receive feedback during a dedicated student session
- Integration Activities: Take a break from science, visit the Silesian Museum (located in the area of the former coal mine), and try Polish cuisine.
- Participating in Seasonal Schoolallows you to get 4 ECTS

- prepare a maximum 3-minute video presenting your scientific interests and achievements and upload it here: https://ssd.us.edu.pl/index.php/s/bSd19ZQ3fwBTOd7 or send us a link to seasonalschool@us.edu.pl
Based on this, we will choose participants to present the results of their investigation in a 10-minute oral presentation. The remaining participants will be asked to prepare electronic posters and send them by Registration System by March 15, 2025.
The number of attendees for some workshops is limited, so act quickly!
In addition to academic activities, we offer the opportunity to visit the surrounding area and establish scientific contacts in a friendly springtime atmosphere.
