Doctoral School at the University of Silesia
The Doctoral School at the University of Silesia in Katowice was established on 14th May 2019. The first group of doctoral students began their education on 1st October 2019. The aim of the Doctoral School is to educate doctoral students at the University of Silesia. Its major goal is for doctoral students to prepare top-quality doctoral dissertations and be prepared for participating in academic and social life as researchers, academic teachers, specialists, and effective administrators of knowledge. The school accomplishes this goal through high-quality education delivered in cooperation with faculties of the University of Silesia and providing administrative support for doctoral students, as well as support regarding their research activity. The most significant aspects of such support are:
- selecting an experienced supervisor well prepared to work with a doctoral candidate
- organizing international cooperation
- helping doctoral students to obtain funding for their research and mobility
- organizing various forms of activity, such as summer school, open lectures, and scientific conferences
- the activity aimed at the popularization of science, especially creating publicity for research conducted by doctoral students
