In this project, we aim to identify and analyse the key changes that occur during the development of buckwheat somatic hybrids. The research under this proposal will begin with the optimisation of the protoplast electrofusion technique in order to obtain hybrid calli and somatic hybrids of F. tataricum (+) F. tataricum, F. esculentum (+) F. esculentum and F. tataricum (+) F. esculentum. The research will continue with an analysis of the changes in the cell wall, ploidy levels, secondary metabolites and hormone biosynthesis and agronomical traits in the obtained hybrid calli and plants.
