Dr. Sławomir Sułowicz | Viruses. How to kill something that defies the definition of a living organism?

10.04.2020 - 11:43 update 10.04.2020 - 12:22
Editors: MK

Can we kill viruses if there is no general agreement on whether they are actually alive? It all depends on the definition of life that we adopt. Until they get in touch with a body cell, we may situate them somewhere between the living and inorganic matter.

However, whether alive or not, they do exist. Are they capable of anything else than causing a pandemic? These questions are addressed by Dr. Sławomir Sułowicz, microbiologist from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Silesia in Katowice.
