How to help people affected by the war in Ukraine?

Ladies and Gentlemen,

the next few weeks will be very difficult for us, citizens of democratic world who are looking at mindless and destructive acts of aggression undertaken by the Government of the Russian Federation against the Ukrainian state and citizens. The war taking place there particularly affects those of us who come from the countries involved in the conflict, but also those who are professionally or personally associated with the region, its cultures, languages, and above all, with people.

Please pay a special attention to students from Ukraine, especially the first-year students. Among them are very young people, frequently minors. Let us show them special kindness and help. Let us also take into consideration those who had to stay in Ukraine. Please include them in the educational process, conducting hybrid classes and sending class materials to the e-mail addresses of absent individuals. It is very important for the students who stayed in Ukraine to know that right after the war they will be able to return to the University of Silesia, as well as that we remember about them and work with them without interruption.

Although students, doctoral students and employees from Ukraine are most affected, we cannot forget about our community members from Russian Federation, Belarus or other countries. Each of them has been affected by the shock of the last few days.

Please read the information on the following website: In Solidarity with Ukraine and the attached information package for the community of the University of Silesia regarding first aid for Ukraine. This material has been sent to all students and doctoral students. I think that familiarity with the details contained there will particularly useful for you in the upcoming days. I also encourage you to participate in the training in the field of cybersecurity, which will take place online at 5 p.m. on 1 March.
