On 18 March 2024, a meeting of academic and school teachers involved in education at various levels was held as part of the Teachers for Teachers programme. The programme is one of the streams within the European City of Science Katowice 2024. Almost 80 people took part in the meeting. The discussions focused on the most important issues for school and academic teachers, including:

  • the essence and new scopes of cooperation between schools and universities,
  • current challenges related to the organisation and implementation of the educational process at all educational levels and in various educational environments,
  • the presence of teachers in decision-making processes and areas, including their roles and tasks in educational policies,
  • cooperation in the creation and implementation of teacher education programmes,
  • issues of caring for the psychophysical condition of school and academic teachers,
  • forms of presence and scope of responsibilities of specialists (outside of practice directly related to teaching) in schools, universities and other educational institutions.

The result of the meeting is a set of recommendations that will be used to create six academies based on the thematic paths of the European City of Science Katowice 2024:

  • Climate and Environment,
  • Industries of the Future,
  • Health and Quality of Life,
  • Social Innovation,
  • Industrial and Cultural Heritage,
  • Creation and Criticism.
