An invention designed by Dr. Paweł Janik, Dr. Małgorzata Janik and Michał Pielka, MSc Eng. was awarded during the 44. International Invention Show „Inova Croatia 2019”, which took place in Zagreb on 13-16 November 2019.

The scientists from the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Silesia are the authors of a broadcasting method for Bluetooth Low Energy transmitters. The solution was applied in the breathing monitor which they created. It is a multi-functional device to control different parameters connected with the respiratory system and locomotor activity in humans, such as breathing strength and frequency, as well as body pulse and body position change.

The invention consists of several patent applications and industrial designs at the European and domestic level.

The invention was awarded the gold medal by the international jury of the competition organized during Inova and received a special prize awarded by the World Invention Intellectual Property Associations (WIIPA) from Taiwan. The project under which the solution was developed was carried out in cooperation with SPIN-US Sp. z o.o., a special purpose vehicle of the University of Silesia, which represented the scientists during the International Invention Show in Zagreb.
