“Freedom of Research” is a call for proposals organised within the Research Excellence Initiative in which scientists of the University of Silesia can receive funds for their scientific and research activity. The 1st edition attracted much interest from our researchers, therefore, the admission process for the 2nd edition of the call for proposals has started.

Scientists can apply for scientific activity funding, the realisation period of which is a maximum of 12 months. The support covers such activities as: research and consultative trips, queries, field research, and development of music and artistic works. Additionally, it covers the purchase of materials and agents necessary to carry out one’s own research as well as costs of translation and proofreading of texts that are to be published in highly scored journals.

Applicants are obliged to declare at least one publication or artistic accomplishment they want to achieve thanks to the granted fund.

Scientists can apply for a research action fund of up to PLN 10,000. Establishing or intensifying international cooperation, particularly with the partners of the Transform4Europe Alliance, allows researchers to apply for a higher fund of up to PLN 20,000.

You can apply until 10 January 2022. The rules and regulations and the application form can be found on the Research Excellence Initiative website by clicking on “research.”
