Description of the week

Week #17 of 50 Weeks in the City of Science is Architecture Week. The event is part of the European City of Science programme, which will last throughout 2024.

Profile of the curators

Klaudiusz Fross, PhD, DSc, Eng. Arch., Assoc. Prof. – dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology. Head of the Department of Design and Qualitative Research in Architecture. Vice-President of the Silesian Chamber of Construction. President of PTE – Polish Ergonomics Society in Silesia. Co-founder of the Silesian School of Qualitative Research and the Silesian School of Energy-Saving Architecture. Co-founder, vice-president and honorary member of IFMA Poland. Research and teaching employee and active designer for 30 years. Design promoter using qualitative research and the architect-researcher model. He designed, among others: office, recreational, residential, medical, commercial, hotel, public utility spaces. Member of scientific councils of international and national conferences and journals. Manager of the DREAM Silesia multi-conference. Creator of the research programmes ‘Art and design in public space’ and ‘Space architecture research programme’ and the ‘BenchMan’ brand.

Krzysztof Groń, PhD – doctor of fine arts in the artistic discipline of interior design. Vice-Dean for cooperation and development of the Faculty of Architecture of the Silesian University of Technology. Scientist, designer, artist, academic teacher. Specialist in computer graphics and modern digital techniques. Co-author of scientific publications on the use of raster and vector graphics in writing and document research. Author of several dozen designs registered in the Patent Office of the Republic of Poland. Awarded several times by the rector of the Silesian University of Technology in Gliwice for outstanding education quality.
