One of the subjects  students need to pass during studies is H&S training. Access to training may be obtained through the website of US: “Student tab” – new student –  first steps – obligatory trainings – H&S training or through the address: el.us.edu.pl/mw.

H&S training consists of several elements. First, general provisions and principles of H&S will be presented and subsequently, first pre-medical aid – each of us, in case of emergency – may be obliged not only to call rescue services but also to provide the victim with first aid. At the end, the participants will learn a few rules concerning fire protection, as the university is on a daily basis a meeting point for many people and is thus equipped in various protection means in case of fire. Students who realize the whole training will obtain credits. Importantly, students need to accept a declaration at the end of the training, required for passing the training: “I declare that I have acquainted myself with the provisions and principles of H&S…”. The training must occur straight after commencing studies.

The credits will be entered  into student record book at the end of the semester. After the credit and having passed all the exams, upon submitting the student record book, an employee of the given university unit will verify in the USOS system whether the student carried out his training. If so, the following note will be entered into their student record book: “H&S training – passed”.

In case of any questions or problems with logging in, please contact the ONLINE EDUCATION CENTRE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF SILESIA IN KATOWICE, tel. (32) 368-97-97, e-mail: administrator_moodle@us.edu.pl.

Since currently studies are conducted in a special epidemiological conditions in our country, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the following procedures related to the COVID-19 pandemics: You should visit the University without any symptoms of infection, wearing masks. You must maintain a safe distance, abide by the principles of hygiene and disinfect your hands. Each person, if possible, must use their own tools/items necessary for effective and efficient realization of classes. In case of occurrence of the following disease symptoms: fever above 38°C, poor mood, breathing problems, loss of smell and/or taste one should remain at home and contact their GP or the closest sanitary-epidemiological station. In case of noting COVID-19 virus infection one should notify the faculty dean’s office if possible.

A significant issue concerning safety at the university are student accidents. Not every single event may be referred to as an accident though – it is a sudden event, caused by an external circumstance causing an injury or death during classes at a university or while carrying out internships provided for in the curriculum of studies. An accident is reported by the student to the person who carries out classes or to the internship supervisor. These persons inform the relevant dean’s office about the occurring event, while employees of a given unit contact the injured person and carry out the post-accident procedure.
