PERSONS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENTS
We offer support to students and doctoral students who, due to their visual impairment, have problems functioning independently at the university, the support including:
- assigning assistants to students with disabilities (ASwD) – such persons are to provide support, thus enabling the student or doctoral student to participate in the academic life more effectively, i.e. during: commuting to the university, moving around the university, taking notes, visiting the library or the dean’s office,
- organizing a spatial orientation course – people who have difficulty navigating in a new and unknown place can take part in a spatial orientation course, which will help them get to know the place where they will study,
- provision of equipment supporting education – at the faculties it is possible to rent equipment that helps in learning, e.g. electronic magnifying glasses, notebooks with text-to-speech software, voice recorders; some libraries also have computer workstations adapted to the needs of people with visual impairments.
