Financial aid
Financial aid may be granted to a student who is temporarily in a difficult life situation. The difficult life situation that justifies the financial aid should be understood as a set of conditions (e.g. financial, family, social, health-related situation), in which the student’s family finds itself, causing temporary problems in satisfying the family’s necessities of life.
The reasons behind the student’s difficult life situation may include, in particular, illness, accident or death of an immediate family member, or damage caused by, e.g. theft, fire, or natural disaster.
The financial aid is granted at the student’s formal request, is a one-off benefit, and cannot be granted more than twice per academic year.
The application for the financial aid shall be submitted via USOSweb no later than six months after the occurrence of the events justifying the application, together with jpg and/or pdf attachments constituting appropriate documentation, which includes in particular: death certificate, hospital discharge certificate, appropriate medical certificate confirming a history of illness or accident, personal invoices confirming expenses related to the fortuitous event, certificates issued by authorised institutions confirming the occurrence of the fortuitous event.
When considering the application on the basis of the documents attached therein, the Dean or the Vice-Dean independently assesses whether a student’s living situation justifies the financial aid to have been granted. The same circumstances may not be the basis for granting another financial aid.
The minimum and maximum amount of the aid in each semester is determined by the Rector in agreement with the Student Government. The amount of the aid depends on the situation of the student. At the Dean’s or Vice-Dean’s request, the Rector may increase the amount of the financial aid in justified cases.
The financial aid is available for 1st cycle, 2nd cycle and long-cycle studies, but no longer than for the statutory period entitling to benefits.
The student is not entitled to have the financial aid granted in the case they hold a Master’s degree, also if it was obtained abroad. The student is not entitled to have the financial aid granted in the case they hold a Bachelor’s degree and start the 1st cycle studies once again.
In the event a student is enrolled in more degree programmes, the financial aid may be granted in only one programme of the student’s choice.
