Description of activities that can be carried out as part of the internship program

A one-month internship, understood as a stay of a doctoral student in a foreign academic, scientific or research unit, lasting at least for ca. 1 month, during which tasks related to the Individual Research Plan of the doctoral student are carried out, ending with a report.

In the case of doctoral students in artistic disciplines, scientific activities are understood as artistic activities.

Who can apply for an internship?

A person who meets all of the following conditions may apply for the internship:

1) has the status of a doctoral student at a doctoral school;

2) has settled the first year of education at a doctoral school on time;

3) is preparing an international doctoral project, understood as a project in which the doctoral student will cooperate with a scientist from abroad;

4) has submitted a correct application using the form provided in this announcement;
5) submitted a statement in the form of a representative of the foreign institution about the readiness to accept the PhD student for an internship with guaranteed scientific supervision.

Allowable costs in the project

Departures are settled on a lump sum basis, paid according to the scheme:

  • 80% of funds before departure
  • 20% of funds after return and fulfillment of the program requirements

The funds granted include:

  1. Living costs for accommodation and meals in the amount of PLN 12,000.
  2. Travel costs in a lump sum amount depending on the distance between the place of residence and the host institution (from PLN 1,000 to PLN 5,000).
  3. A settlement allowance in the amount of PLN 5,000 for selected projects.

Details of the assessment of applications and implementation of internships are described in the Regulations on recruitment and participation in the internship program, which are an attachment to Order No. 79/2024 of the Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice (document in Polish).
