The Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia in Katowice is organising a popular science event called GeoPicnic at Żyleta, which will take an on-site, festival character. It will be held in the faculty building at ul. Będzińska 60 in Sosnowiec. The event is addressed to all Earth sciences aficionados.
The programme includes:
- two popular science lectures:
- Janusz Janeczek: ‘Czy dogonimy atomowego króliczka?’ [Can we catch up to the atomic rabbit?],
- Jerzy Cabała, PhD, DSc, Assoc. Prof., Krzysztof Jochymczyk, PhD Eng.: ‘Terroir, geology — grapevines and wine’
- 14 science workshops,
- 12 exhibition stands,
- official opening of the Landscape Reading Station at the Żyleta’s roof.
- opening of a photograph exhibition by the employees of the Faculty of Natural Sciences,
- Museum of Earth Sciences tour,
- family urban game.
The event is accompanied by a competition ‘Summer dose of endorphins with the Faculty of Natural Sciences’.
