Student organizations

Student organizations are the true talent forges! Remember that studies are not just about lectures and classes but also about the time during which you may or simply should increase the gained knowledge and cooperate with other active people and enthusiasts.  Acting in student organizations you get a chance to develop your interests, gain skills and expand the knowledge from various fields of science. At our university both all-university organizations such as Student Song and Dance Ensemble, University of Silesia Choir Harmonia as well as organs of the Student Self-Government and scientific clubs are in place totalling at the number of 250.

Activity of student organizations may take the form of scientific, cultural, artistic or sport actions. Members of scientific clubs conduct various scientific studies in the frames of which they issue publications or organize trainings and scientific workshops.

Apart from this, in the framework of participation in the university organizations, charity campaigns are held as well as sport events and cyclical cultural or popular science events.

The list of student organizations which you may joint is available on our website. Remember that you may also turn to the Student Self-Government of your faculty as its members have the information about all actively operating clubs. If however you decide that the already existing student organization do not meet your expectations you may find students with similar interests to yours and establish your own scientific club. Bear in mind that you will need a minimum of three persons and a substantive supervisor who will support you in your ongoing activities and perform the role of a mentor.

Student organizations registered at the University of Silesia may apply for funding for their actions under the division of funds made by the University Council of the Student Self-Government. The division of funds is carried out twice a year on the basis of applications for funding submitted by organizations.

Student organizations may apply for funding, among others, for student organizations, scientific conferences, discussion panels, workshops, researhc projects, contests or scientific publication editions.

All information concerning establishing organizations, necessary documents and information regarding funding of organization activities may be found on the website (us.edu.pl/student) in the tab “student activity”. If, however, you find something unclear we invite you to visit the Student Activity Office at the Student Service Centre, where we will be happy to reply to all your questions or doubts.
