Computer working stations
We invite you to familiarize with the rules of using the positions and to submit booking requests to book a given working station in advance with a relevant unit (address details indicated below). Persons who are unable to use their own computer equipment will be entitled to use these computer stations firstly.
GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF USING COMPUTER STATIONS FOR THE PURPOSE OF ONLINE EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF SILESIA
- A student, doctoral student or employee submits a request to book a computer stations for the purposes related to education at the relevant email address (separate for each faculty, the list of email addresses may be found at the bottom of the page) at least one day in advance, until 2:00 pm. It is possible to use the computer position without prior reservation subject to the availability of computer stations and subject to justifying the necessity to urgently use the equipment. Within the email submission one must specify the purpose of using the position (i.e. exam, writing a thesis, online classes).
- Persons assigned to this task at faculties pass the confirmation onto the user in an electronic form, where one may find the information regarding the place where the reserved computer position is located (building, room) and some guidelines concerning the manner of position collection (i.e. collection of the key). In case of lack of free positions in the selected department it will be possible to use the positions available in other faculties or in the Scientific Information Centre and the Academic Library (details: https://ciniba.edu.pl/kabiny-pracy-indywidualnej-alias).
- Upon handing over the position, the person responsible for the equipment may request insight into the email with a booking confirmation on the electronic device released for use.
- Upon handing over the position the user may also be asked to sign off a position card where information on the rented equipment will be visible. The user may be asked to submit a statement that he has acquainted himself with the general principles of using the position and to enter the necessary contact data.
- Computer positions may be used solely for the purposes related to obtaining educational effects, including for the purposes of realizing classes, exam sessions, diploma exams and own research.
- Computer stations may be used during hours in which classes, exams, tests are planned as well as during standard working hours of the faculty administration. The use of computer stations during other hours will be possible solely upon prior arrangements.
- The user bears responsibility for the use of equipment in accordance with its designation for the purposes related to education, whilst maintaining safety measures of online work.
- The User may use solely the computer equipment located in a given room that was released to him and hands over the equipment after use in a complete and non-worsened state.
- All defects in the equipment (including those that occurred at his fault) must be reported by the person responsible for the equipment at the department.
- The computer station is disinfected after each use.
- It is recommended that users use the equipment with masks and gloves on.
Note: the university offers the possibility of using headsets, however, for the best comfort of users it is recommended to use one’s own set.
