PROM – International scholarship exchange of doctoral students and academic staff

 

Doctoral School at the University of Silesia in Katowice announces the opening of the call for applications to the project of scholarship exchange implemented within the PROM programme.

Eligible mobility participants: PhD students of the University of Silesia (doctoral studies and doctoral schools), who are under 40 years of age.

The project encompasses the following forms of mobility:

  1. Obtaining materials for a PhD thesis/scientific articles.
  2. Participation in a summer school/winter school (both as a school student and as a teacher). The subject of the school must be closely related to the subject of the doctoral dissertation or research.
  3. Performing archival inquiries/library queries.
  4. Conducting didactic classes.
  5. Participation in the preparation of an international grant application.
  6. Other short forms of education to increase the competencies of the project participant.
  7. Active participation in a foreign conference (including, e.g., participation in a poster session or a flash talk)

Eligible countries of stay and performance of training as well as countries from which incoming mobility participants come to the University of Silesia in Katowice: unlimited

Duration of mobility: from 5 to 24 days (including 2 days for travel)

Project duration: all trips must start no earlier than November 1, 2022 and end no later than February 28, 2023. In justified cases, it is possible to end the trip in the first days of March 2023.

Financing:

  1. Flat rates of financial support for costs of travel, health insurance, OC, NNW, costs of visa fees or fees connected to legalisation of stay, depending on the distance,
  2. Flat rates of financial support for costs of subsistence, depending on the country and length of stay (from PLN 260 to PLN 800 per day),
  1. Costs of conference/training/course fees.

Financing is paid out in the form of a scholarship.

Dates of calls:

  1. First call – priority: from October 19 18:00 to 24 October 11:00 am. Applications submitted in this call for proposals will be considered first.
  2. Second call – continuous recruitment from 24 October at 11:00 until funds are exhausted. The call for proposals will be carried out as long as the call no. 1 does not exhaust funds. In this call for proposals, the order in which the applications are submitted decides on the order of evaluation.

Applications are subject to formal and substantive assessment in the project office, which is performed by a team of experts appointed by the project manager.

In the first call, after completing all the assessments, a ranking list is prepared, and a financing agreement is signed with the persons qualified to participate in the project – provided that they complete all formalities.

In the second call, applications are assessed on an ongoing basis (no later than 14 days from submitting the application in the system).

In both calls only applications assessed with at least 50% of points in each category may be financed.

Criteria:

  • Scientific level of research or activity in the field of art or evaluation of the substantive value of planned activities related to education or implementation 0-40 points
  • The purposefulness of the project from the perspective of the doctoral dissertation 0-20 points
  • The probability of achieving the planned goals 0-20 points
  • The potential impact of the project on the harmonious development of scientific disciplines in which the University conducts research 0-20 points

The project manager reserves the right to change the number of days of mobility as compared to the number of days specified in the application.
