Information on the results of competition no 5 (3/2021)

The competition was conducted on the basis of the Regulations on the expenditure of funds for the scientific activity of doctoral students of the Doctoral School, introduced by order no. 2/2021 of the Dean of the Doctoral School of January 15, 2021. On October 26, the competition committee appointed by the Dean of the Doctoral School determined the allocation of funds in the competition.

62 applications were received within the set deadline, all submitted correctly and confirmed by the promoter. One application was rejected for formal reasons.

Applications were submitted for a total amount of PLN 165,825.42.

Funds for distribution: PLN 172 357.

After considering all the applications, the committee decided to award funds in the total amount of PLN 136,246.21.

After the commission’s evaluation, six applications were rejected based on merit (they did not score enough in the categories where the minimum number of points was specified).

Based on the assessments of committee members and following an analysis of the costs stated in the applications, the committee decided to finance 55 proposals, some in total and some in part. By the provisions of those mentioned above of the regulations, the Doctoral School publishes information about the awarded funds.

People who have not received funding will receive information about the score obtained in a separate e-mail. People who have been granted some or all of the funds will receive information on financing details in a separate e-mail.

The Dean of the Doctoral School informs about the opening of the competition for financing scientific, artistic and development activities from the budget of the Doctoral School.

Application procedure:

The doctoral student fills in and sends the SRW form, and then confirms the submission of the application by clicking on the link sent by the system. Deadline for closing the system: October 20 (Wednesday) hours. 23:55.
The doctoral student submits the completed form in an electronic or paper version, identical to the form submitted in the School’s IT system, to the supervisor for approval.
The supervisor informs the Doctoral School about accepting the form by sending an email to the address: szkola.doktorska@us.edu.pl from his or her official account in the @us.edu.pl domain or by signing the form, which the doctoral student or other person then submits to the Doctoral School office. Date: October 21 (Thursday) hours. 15:00. Minor changes can be marked in the email or placed on the paper version of the application.
The introduction of significant changes to the application by the supervisor results in the obligation for the doctoral student to repeat the above-described procedure.
Applications not confirmed by the supervisor will not be considered.

Additional terms of the competition, not included in the Regulations:

  1. No funds exceeding PLN 5,000 will be awarded per doctoral student.
    A doctoral student may submit several applications if he or she wants to apply for financing of various projects (for a total amount not exceeding PLN 5,000).
  2. Only funds to be spent in the calendar year 2021 may be awarded in the competition. Therefore, funds for the purchase of fixed assets and expenses exceeding 2021 will not be granted. In that case ENTIRE application will be rejected for formal reasons.
  3. A doctoral student who has submitted an individual research plan should apply for funds planned in the IPB (IRP) budget. Other activities will be financed only in the case of remaining free funds after financing all activities included in IPB (this rule does not apply to 1st year doctoral students).
  4. Doctoral students who obtained funding in previous competitions must submit an initial report on the expenditure of the allocated funds in order to apply for further funding. Information on results of competition no. 4 (2/2021)

The competition was conducted on the basis of the Regulations on spending funds for the scientific activity of doctoral students at the Doctoral School by order no. 2/2021 of the Dean of the Doctoral School of January 15, 2021. On May 31th, 2021, the competition committee appointed by the Dean of the Doctoral School determined the allocation of funds in the competition.

62 applications were received within the set deadline, including 59 applications submitted correctly and confirmed by the supervisor.

  • Applications were submitted for a total amount of PLN 228,606.13.
  • Funds allocated for distribution PLN 105,500.
  • After analyzing the applications, the Dean, at the commission’s request, agreed to finance the activities for the total amount of PLN 115,000.00.

After the commission’s evaluation, 52 applications were assessed positively, which means that they obtained enough points in the categories where the minimum number of points have been specified.

Based on the assessments of committee members and following an analysis of the costs presented in the applications, the committee decided to finance 52 applications, some in full and some in part. In accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned regulations, the Doctoral School publishes information about the awarded funds.

PhD students who have not received funding will receive information about the received score in a separate email. PhD students who have been granted part of the funds will receive information on the details of financing in a separate e-mail.

Information on the opening of the competition No. 4 (2/2021) for funds for PhD students

Dean of the PhD School informs about the opening of a competition for financing scientific, artistic, and development activities from the funds of the PhD School’s budget.

Application procedure:
1. PhD student completes and submits the SRW form and then confirms the application’s submission by clicking on the link sent by the system to his or her e-mail.

2. PhD student sends the completed form to PhD supervisor and ask for acceptance.

3. Supervisor informs the PhD School about accepting the form by sending an email to the address szkola.doktorska@us.edu.pl from his or her official account in the domain @us.edu.pl. Minor changes can be indicated in the email.

4. If a supervisor makes significant changes in the application, a Ph.D. student must repeat the procedure described above.

5. Deadline for supervisor’s acceptance: May 24th 10:00.

Additional terms of the competition, not included in the Regulations:

1. No funds exceeding PLN 5,000 will be awarded per PhD student.
2. A PhD student may submit several applications if he or she wishes to apply for funding for various projects (for a total amount not exceeding PLN 5,000).
3. The competition may finance travel abroad, provided that the trip is well justified and it is not possible to implement a given activity on-line (eg hybrid conferences – only participation on-line).
4. A PhD student who has submitted an individual research plan should apply for funds planned in the IPB budget. Other activities will be financed only in the case of remaining free funds after financing all activities included in IPB (applies to 2nd year PhD students).
5. We would like to remind you that PhD students who received funding in competition no. 3 (1/2021) must submit a report on the expenditure of the allocated funds in order to apply for further funds. The report form as of May 12 is available here: https://formularze.us.edu.pl/form/index/2568.

The competition was conducted on the basis of the Regulations on spending funds for the scientific activity of doctoral students at the Doctoral School by order no. 2/2021 of the Dean of the Doctoral School of January 15, 2021. On February 9, 2021, the competition committee appointed by the Dean of the Doctoral School determined the allocation of funds in the competition.

97 applications were received within the set deadline, including 89 applications submitted correctly and confirmed by the supervisor. One application was withdrawn during the evaluation procedure.

  • Applications were submitted for a total amount of PLN 447,050.68.
  • Funds allocated for distribution PLN 105,500.
  • After analyzing the applications, the Dean, at the commission’s request, agreed to finance the activities for the total amount of PLN 125,916.50.

After the commission’s evaluation, 69 applications were assessed positively, which means that they obtained enough points in the categories where the minimum number of points was specified.

Based on the assessments of committee members and following an analysis of the costs presented in the applications, the committee decided to finance 67 applications, some in full and some in part. The 2 applications with the lowest number of points, although assessed positively, will not be funded as they ran out of funds. In accordance with the provisions of the above-mentioned of regulations, the Doctoral School publishes information about the awarded funds.

PhD students who have not received funding will receive information about the received score in a separate email. PhD students who have been granted part of the funds will receive information on the details of financing in a separate e-mail. Both information will be sent by February 19th.
