5th edition of Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE

21.09.2021 - 14:18, update 23.11.2021 - 08:28
Editors: OO

Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE was created for our University, to show it to the public and to meet one another. To show the communities of Silesia and Zagłębie what our scientists deal with behind the walls of academic buildings in four cities where the University of Silesia is based. Their inhabitants can see what our passion and profession is. It is also important to see ourselves in the multitude and richness of our scientific disciplines, and thanks to it feel the unique power that lies in the united variety of sciences.

The 5th edition of the Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE will be held from 9 to 15 October 2021. The opening gala will take place on 9 October (Saturday) by the Rawa river in Katowice. The inauguration will also be available online. On 10 October, the audience will be invited to the Rawa river boulevards (some lectures will be broadcast online). In order to participate in the Festival that day, you will need to download a  free entry pass. The Festival space will stretch from the Katowice Market Square, through ul. Teatralna, the Rawa river boulevards, the area of the University of Silesia campus, to the building of the Faculty of Law and Administration. The programme will feature dozens of workshops, lectures, exhibition booths, exhibitions, concerts, and meetings with special guests from Poland and abroad. The participants will have at their disposal:

  • four special zones,
  • fourteen stages,
  • six areas of knowledge,
  • two Science Stations,
  • “Tree of Tales” – a space where excerpts from Stanisław Lem’s books will be read,
  • two workshop areas.

The concert by Artur Andrus has been planned for 10 October.

From 11 for 15 October (i.e. from Monday for Friday), we will offer the Festival in online form – every day will be dedicated to a different field of knowledge (nature, technology, humanities and social sciences, exact sciences, medicine and health). Registration is mandatory for selected events.
