On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Silesia had the honour of welcoming Ms Katarina Ivanković Knežević, Director for Social Rights and Inclusion at the Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion of the European Commission, as well as Ms Urszula Romańska, Team Leader for Poland within the same Directorate-General.
The meeting, chaired by Professor Łukasz Pisarczyk, provided an opportunity for students and academic staff of the University of Silesia to gain insight into the European Pillar of Social Rights. The speakers presented the process behind the development of the Pillar, its core principles, and the stages of its implementation, with particular emphasis on the Polish context. Participants also had the opportunity to ask questions concerning both the functioning of the Pillar itself and the practical aspects of working within the structures of the European Commission. At the conclusion of the meeting, students were encouraged to apply for internships in European Union institutions.
The event was co-organised by the students’ scientific research team Opus per laborem, operating within the Faculty of Law and Administration, under the supervision of Michał Barański, PhD and Błażej Mądrzycki, PhD.
We sincerely thank all participants for their active participation in the event!
