Admission to Doctoral School

The University of Silesia offers an opportunity to develop your research career at the Doctoral School for which admission will be open from 28 June to 10 July 2021.

It is the first stage of the admission process. After its conclusion, a committee will verify and qualify candidates for the next stage, which will take the form of admission interviews. The interviews will take place between 21 and 23 July and the results will be announced by 2 August.

The admission is carried out through the Online Application System.

This Friday, 18 June, information meetings for candidates who are interested in applying for admission to the Doctoral School will be held in two languages via the MS Teams platform. The meeting in Polish will begin at 9.00 a.m. (link to the meeting), and the meeting in English will begin at 11.00 a.m. (link to the meeting).

Offer of the Doctoral School

The school educates doctoral students in all the 22 disciplines in which the University of Silesia is entitled to confer the doctoral degree. The disciplines have been divided into three large fields, integrating several fields of study:

  • humanities, theology, and arts,
  • natural sciences and engineering and technology,
  • social sciences.

The Doctoral School runs an open, international admissions process, common to all disciplines.

Milestones in the admission process

  1. find a supervisor,
  2. develop your project,
  3. prepare all documents,
  4. register and send all documents to the IRK system,
  5. get ready for the interview.

Admission limits for specific disciplines:

  • humanities, theology, and arts — 25 places,
  • natural sciences and engineering and technology — 25 places,
  • ​​social sciences — 25 places.

The limits are not divided into disciplines. Upon request of the admissions committee, the Rector may agree to admit more students than specified in the admission limit.
