the following procedure is being introduced at the University of Silesia for students to present their candidacies for the minister’s scholarship for 2024/2025.
- A student who intends to apply for minister’s scholarship for 2024/2025 is obliged to obtain a positive opinion from the dean of their faculty.
- For this purpose, the student submits to the dean of the faculty via the dean’s office a written ‘Application of candidacy for the minister’s scholarship for 2024/2025’ in paper according to the attached template – by 7 October this year.
The student attaches documentation of achievements to the application.
List of dean’s office employees to whom the student submits the application:
- Faculty of Humanities: Mateusz Gębka (Katowice), Agnieszka Urbańczyk (Sosnowiec)
- Faculty of Natural Sciences: Justyna Rogalska-Nowak (Sosnowiec), Zofia Kuglin (Katowice)
- Faculty of Social Sciences: Beata Kalisz

Before submitting the candidacy application to the dean, each of the above-mentioned employees confirms the student’s status, personal data, completion of the academic year and registration for the next year of studies.
- When giving a recommendation to a student, the dean of the faculty is obliged to evaluate the achievements presented by the student and the correctness of the documentation in accordance with the above-mentioned Regulation of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. In the process of achievement evaluation, the dean may seek the opinion of, for example, the director of the institute, the director of the degree programme or other scientists recognised as experts in a given field.
- The dean, after reviewing the ‘Application of candidacy for the minister’s scholarship for 2024/2025’ and the presented documentation, is obliged to issue an opinion – whether the achievements presented by the student are significant and related to their studies (excluding sports achievements). If the achievements presented by the student are not consistent with the catalogue of significant achievements referred to in the cited Regulation or are not related to studies, the dean’s recommendation may be negative.
- The dean is obliged to issue a recommendation to the student by 14 October 2024.
- Student who has received a positive recommendation from the dean reports to the Student Social Affairs Office in order to launch a scholarship application in the ZSUN/OSF system through the university coordinator, who registers in the system as an “application editor”.
- The university coordinators appointed by the Rector are employees of the Student Social Affairs Office:

- After receiving the login and password to the OSF system from the coordinator, the student edits their application, including personal data, description of achievements and attachments. After editing the application, the student notifies the coordinator. The deadline for editing the application is 20 October 2024.
- The coordinator checks the student’s application only in formal terms, submits it to the Rector for signature and sends it to the Ministry.
