From 7 October 2021, in connection with the 5th Silesian Science Festival KATOWICE and the construction of the Rawa Scienceville in the market square in Katowice, on ul Teatralna, on ul Szkolna, on ul Moniuszki, and on the campus of the University of Silesia in Katowice, the organisation of traffic has changed.

The planned changes include:

  • 7 October – 12 October 2021 – no parking on ul. W. Pańki,
  • 8 October – 11 October 2021 – no entry to ul. W. Pańki,
  • 9 October – 11 October 2021 – no parking on ul. Moniuszki (from the intersection with ul Bankowa up to the intersection with ul. Szkolna),
  • 9 October – 11 October 2021 – no parking on ul. Teatralna,
  • 10 October 2021 – no traffic on ul. Bankowa and ul. Szkolna (except for ZTM buses).

We will make every effort to ensure that the changes introduced will be as little inconvenient as possible. At the same time, we kindly ask for your understanding and please pay attention to the new vertical and horizontal road signs.

We look forward to meeting you on 10 October at the festival, so that after an exceptionally long break we can spend time together again, learn about our research and teaching achievements and enjoy the various cultural events. This day of the festival will end with a concert of Artur Andrus on the Rawa Valley Stage, located by the Scientific Information Centre and Academic Library (CINiBA) – it will be a unique opportunity to start the academic year in a positive way.

For the duration of the car park closing, we would like to encourage you to use the car parks provided by the Katowice City Hall, among others in the Culture Zone (near the International Congress Centre and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra). At the same time, we would like to suggest that you make use of the free parking facilities within the Katowice transfer hubs (in the districts of Brynów, Ligota, and Zawodzie).

In order to minimise the inconvenience of parking in the vicinity of the campus, the Katowice City Hall provided a substitute car park for our community in the Culture Zone near the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. The car park will be available from Thursday, 7 October – it will be a designated space with access control.
