Four employees of the University of Silesia in Katowice received scholarships under the Bekker Programme, organised by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange. The winners include: Dr Anna Wójcik, Assoc. Prof. Alexander Betekhtin and Dr Jacek Szczygieł from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, as well as Dr Mariola Paruzel-Czachura from the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The Bekker Programme supports scientists and academics representing all fields of science, employed at Polish universities and research units. The scholarship enables them to carry out postdoctoral internship, conduct scientific research, obtain materials for research work from renowned research centres around the world, as well as establish cooperation with outstanding foreign scientists.
