Dariusz Ignatiuk, PhD, from the Faculty of Natural Sciences of the University of Silesia became a member of the International Expert Committee of the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The scientist will serve on the competition committee for the 2023 Major Science Initiatives (MSI) Fund, which is designed to provide support for the ongoing operational and maintenance needs of research facilities.
The Canada Foundation of Innovation is an independent non-profit organisation that invests in research facilities and equipment for Canadian universities, hospitals, and non-profit research institutions. The Foundation was established by the Canadian government in 1997. Its goal is to attract talented researchers from other countries, train the next generation of scientists, foster innovation in the private sector, and create high-quality jobs that strengthen Canada’s position in today’s knowledge-based economy.
Dariusz Ignatiuk, PhD, is a glaciologist associated with the Centre for Polar Studies at the University of Silesia in Katowice. He has been conducting research mainly in the Arctic, on Spitsbergen for several years.
