Anouk Herman, a graduate and doctoral student at the University of Silesia, has been announced the laureate of the Gdynia Literary Award in the poetry category for her collection Silesian Gothic.

The award-winning work is a poetic journey through the landscapes of Silesia, where tradition meets queer and feminist sensibilities. It is a bold and experimental work in which Silesia takes on new symbolism.

The results of the 20th anniversary edition of the competition were announced on 29 August at the Musical Theatre in Gdynia.

The GDYNIA Literary Award has been presented since 2006 by resolution of the Gdynia City Council to honour the exceptional achievements of living Polish artists. The jury honours texts in four categories: essay, poetry, prose and translation into Polish.

Details and the list of winners in each category can be found on the award website.
