The Złote Lwy 2025 (Golden Lions 2025) – the main prize awarded at the Polish Feature Film Festival in Gdynia (FPFF) – went to the film The Altar Boys. The film was directed by Piotr Domalewski and produced by Aneta Hickinbotham. Both filmmakers are graduates of the Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice and lecturers at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School of the University of Silesia.
The distinction was not the only award that The Altar Boys won. Piotr Domalewski was given the award for best screenplay, and the film itself got a bunch of extra awards, including Award of Polish Film Festivals and Screenings Abroad, Golden Kangaroo Award, Award of the Association of Art House Cinemas, and the Radio Gdańsk Award ‘Golden Clapper’.
Piotr Domalewski’s directorial work includes the award-winning films Silent Night (2017) and Operation Hyacinth (2021). Aneta Hickinbotham has produced films such as Corpus Christi (2019) and Scarborn (2023).
The film The Altar Boys will hit Polish cinemas on 21 November 2025.
